-I purchased this iconic sporty hatchback in 1996, for the sole purpose of transforming it into a road race car
-the work began with a complete teardown – while the suspension was retained for moving the shell around, every other nut, bolt and part was removed prior to painting
-the rust-free body was in excellent condition, requiring no bodywork prior to painting
-a roll cage was welded in, and Boyd Autobody painted the shell and panels in Toyota MR2 yellow
-the car was re-assembled, with limited original parts retained for the re-build
-in addition to the upgrading and replacement of most OEM components, many other custom parts were also machined and fabricated
-compared to others in the paddock, this car's overall condition was consistently one of the best – aside from functionality, all the work was also done with appearance in mind
-I competed in CACC and ICSCC sanctioned road racing events from 1997 through 2003, at various venues including Mission Raceway Park, Evergreen Speedway, Bremerton Raceway, and the 2000 Molson Indy Vancouver temporary street circuit
